MADE TO MEASURE: These log cabins are supplied as a single room with no doors or windows. You can add doors and windows to suit your individual requirements. The door and window can be positioned wherever you want.
HIGH SPECIFICATION DOORS & WINDOWS: The door leaves and window sashes in this luxury garden room are similar to those used in housebuilding, with morticed and tenoned joints throughout. High quality locks and a choice of brass or chrome handles are included.
PRESSURE TREATED FOUNDATION BEAMS: Substantial 3"x3" foundation beams are laid on the base to support the walls. This ensures that the wall logs are not in contact with the ground. The foundation beams are pressure treated for durability. Pressure treatment is a lifetime preservative treatment. With the foundation beams this summerhouse can be built without a floor. If required a timber or concrete floor can be laid inside after the walls and roof have been fitted. A timber floor is available as an option.
DECORATIVE FELT TILES: Mineral coated bitumen felt tiles are an attractive and durable roofing material which is far more hardwearing than standard roofing felt. Traditionally used for small buildings only in the UK, most felt tiles are made in Scandinavia where they are used widely in housebuilding.
LENGTH AND WIDTH: In the SIZES & PRICES chart the first dimension listed is the width and the second dimension is the length. The width refers to the angled gable wall. The sizes quoted do not include the verandah, roof overhang or canopy. All sizes quoted are the external log cabin sizes unless stated otherwise.
OPTIONS - you can add any of these options to your basket
Choice of 45mm or 70mm thick tongued and grooved wall logs
Optional front roof canopy projection 1.2m (3'11")
Optional fully enclosed verandah 1.2m (3'11") deep or 1.9m (6'3") deep
Choice of brass or chrome plated door and window handles
Felt tiles are available in a choice of colours at the same price
Choice of Georgian style windows with outward opening top or side hinged opening sashes
Choice of Georgian style doors outward opening single and double hinged doors
HEAVY DUTY TIMBER FLOOR: The optional timber floor features strong 19mm finished thickness tongued and grooved floorboards and strong ex 3"x2" floor joists which are pressure treated for life. The timber floor is designed to fit neatly between the foundation beams. Skirting boards are also included to ensure a neat internal finish.
MICROPOROUS PRESERVATIVE - FACTORY FINISHED: This high quality preservative finish is professionally spray applied in the factory to both sides of the timber. The cabin is treated inside and out with a golden brown wood preservative. Treatment of the walls includes the logs, doors, windows and all other timber trims. Treatment of the roof includes the rafters and boards which are not exposed so treatment is not essential. The microporous preservative repells water while allowing the timber to breathe.
MICROPOROUS PRESERVATIVE - DELIVERED ONLY: A high quality microporous preservative treatment system is available for delivery with your log cabin. The system includes a base coat and a finishing top coat in a wide choice of translucent or opaque colours. The microporous preservative repells water while allowing the timber to breathe. This option can be used instead of the factiory finish or to stain over the factory finish with a different contrasting colour.
UNDERFLOOR INSULATION: The underfloor insulation is designed to suit our optional timber floor or any other timber floor of similar construction. The insulation is fitted between the timber floor joists and below the floor boards. This ensures that the internal appearance with attractive and durable tongued and grooved boards is unchanged. Our unique plastic clips ensure that the insulation is suspended at the optimum height. With no nails or other fixings required, fitting is much quicker and easier with our clips. Detailed instructions are supplied. The floor insulation used is 50mm thick polystyrene which is certified by the British Board of Agrement.
ROOF INSULATION: The roof insulation is laid over the roof boards and below the felt tiles. This ensures that the internal appearance with attractive tongued and grooved boards is unchanged. From outside only the felt tiles are visible. The roof insulation kit includes rigid foam boards which are lightweight and easy to install. Longer felt nails are included for fixing the felt tiles through the insulation. Wider eaves fascias are also included to retain the insulation boards and to conceal the exposed edges. Detailed instructions are supplied. The roof insulation is 40mm thick polyurethane foam with foil laminate facing on both sides. It is certified by the British Board of Agrement.
DOUBLE GLAZING: The thick wall logs ensure that these buildings are easy and inexpensive to heat, even with single glazing. Double glazing provides additional sound and heat insulation for extra comfort if you intend to use your summerhouse regularly all year round as a garden office. If double glazing is specified the doors are 5" or 135mm higher. Double glazing is not available if the coloured Georgian fanlights are specified.
VERANDAHS AND TERRACES: Verandahs are fully enclosed with a roof above and balustrades to the sides. The depth or projection from the log cabin is normally either 4' or 6'3". Pressure treated decking boards are laid on substantial pressure treated floor beams. Pressure treatment is a lifetime preservative treatment. A terrace has no roof but it is in all other respects identical to a verandah and it includes balustrades. A front roof projection or canopy is a versatile and cost effective alternative to a verandah. It provides similar shade and shelter to a verandah but without the restriction of balustrades or a set floor size. The depth or projection from the front of the cabin is the same as a verandah or terrace.
INTERNAL PARTITIONS: Internal partitions can be positioned almost anywhere. The position can be decided in advance or on site during installation, at your preference. If we know in advance we will build the internal partitions into the external walls. If not we will supply special jointing profiles and fixings which allow you the option to move the partitions at a later date. Partitions can be made with thinner logs than the external walls.
